GLOSSARY
Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) - an organization that provides its enrolled members with a wide range of comprehensive healthcare services for a fixed, prepaid monthly fee. HMOs may be sponsored by the government, by physicians, by hospitals, by labor unions, by government groups, by insurance companies, etc.
Home Health-Care Agency - a public or private organization that specializes in providing care in the home, such as skilled nursing care, speech therapy, physical or occupational therapy, or home-maker-home health aids.
Hospital Expense Insurance - health insurance protection against the cost of hospital care resulting from the illness or injury of the insured person.
Hospital Indemnity - insurance individuals can buy that pays a stipulated amount daily, weekly, or monthly during hospital confinement (such as $50 per day); the amount paid is not al related to the actual expense of hospital stay.
